The effects of maca have been tested in postmenopausal women. In this study, maca reduced psychological symptoms, anxiety and depression, but did not affect estrogen levels in any way. The study was randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, so we can be pretty sure that 3.5 grams of maca per day does not affect estrogen levels in women, at least not after menopause. However, the study was quite small and they used maca 6 weeks in a row, but I do not think it affected the results. (see study)
